Designed to boost the residential construction sector amid the Coronavirus crisis, the federal government initiative provides $25K grants to all eligible Australians to build a new home.

Owner-occupiers looking to take up the grant will have to enter into contracts between now and December 31, with work to begin within three months of the contract date.

There are only a few other conditions that would-be home builders have to meet in order to take up the HomeBuilder grant for The Junction:

• Build contract must be entered into between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020
• Construction of new homes to commence within three months of the build contract date
• New builds are capped at $750,000
• You must be an individual, not a company or trust
• You must be aged 18 years or older
• You must be an Australian citizen
• You must earn less than $125,000 or in a couple earning less than $200,000

HomeBuilder will also complement existing State and Territory First Home Owner Grant programs, stamp duty concessions and other grant schemes.

Its expected applications will soon open for interested Victorian home builders. In the meantime, the state government is encouraging people to register their interest in the HomeBuilder grant to ensure they receive necessary progress updates.
