This is fantastic news for young homebuyers, with thousands more now expected to realise their home ownership dreams. While the HomeBuilder grant has been extended, a few other changes are also occurring. Where originally the grant provided $25,000 to home builders or renovators, contracts signed between January and March next year will attract a lower rate of $15,000.

Additionally, property price caps in Victoria will be lifted for contracts signed between January and March next year, rising to $850,000 in Victoria. This is intended to better reflect house prices in our city.

Construction commencement timeframes will also be extended from three to six months for contracts signed on or after 4 June 2020. This will give home builders a little extra time up their sleeves and allow the construction industry to keep pace with demand!
